Since being founded by NJEA in 2007, NJCTL has partnered with over 200 school districts and created more than 500 science, mathematics, and special education teachers.
All coursework is 100% online, asynchronous & self-paced. At $240 per credit, NJCTL is a quarter of the average cost of the top 12 NJ graduate schools of education.
NJCTL offers a variety of programs and resources, explained below, to help you meet your staffing needs. In the program descriptions, the indicated Time to Classroom is how long it typically takes a candidate to earn a Certificate of Eligibility.

Entry Requirements: NJ Standard, CEAS, or CE in Any Subject
Subjects: Special Education (TOSD)
Time to Classroom: 6-24 months
Entry Requirements: Bachelor's degree (any major, any GPA)
Subjects: Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Mathematics
Time to Classroom: 18-36 months
Entry Requirements: Bachelor's degree with 60 liberal arts credits and 3.0+ GPA
Subjects: P-3
Time to Classroom: Immediate
Subjects: Grades 6-12 and AP Science, Mathematics, and Computer Science
NJCTL provides substitute teachers with online asynchronous instruction through Moodle, weekly live Zoom sessions with students, and ongoing coaching and collaborative planning sessions. The district manages classroom administration and student supervision.

Anyone with a bachelor's degree in any subject, with any GPA, may enroll in NJCTL courses and/or a master's degree program. No prior mathematics or science background required.
NJCTL is an online graduate school of education duly authorized by the NJ Office of the Secretary of Higher Education with initial programmatic accreditation from the Association for Advancing Quality in Educator Preparation (AAQEP). NJDOE accepts NJCTL credits towards meeting certification requirements.
NJCTL has been recognized as a Candidate for Accreditation by WASC Senior College and University Commission (WSCUC), 1080 Marina Village Parkway, Suite 500, Alameda, CA 94501, 510.748.9001. This status is a preliminary affiliation with the Commission awarded for a maximum period of five years. Candidacy is an indication that the institution is progressing toward Accreditation. Candidacy is not Accreditation and does not ensure eventual Accreditation. Learn more.
There are instances when credits from an institution that has institutional accreditation are needed. For instance, some districts require them for tuition reimbursement and/or salary advancement. Some DOEs outside of NJ require those credits to meet their certification requirements. If needed, credit transcription is available. Learn more.
NJCTL has exceptionally affordable tuition at $240 per graduate credit. There are never fees or textbook costs.
