General Mathematics Through Algebra I (5-9) Add-On Endorsement Course Sequence for West Virginia Teachers

This coherent sequence of courses is designed to prepare teachers to pass the Praxis II subject matter exam in Middle School Mathematics.


Teachers who possess a valid West Virginia Professional Teaching Certificate and pass the Praxis II subject matter exam in Middle School Mathematics may apply to the West Virginia Department of Education for an add-on endorsement in General Mathematics Through Algebra I (5-9) by passing the Praxis Exam.*


This sequence of courses will provide you with everything you need to become an effective physics teacher, you will:

  • Understand mathematics for grades 5 through 9
  • Know how to teach mathematics in grades 5 through 9
  • Have the resources to teach general mathematics through Algebra I

  • Unlimited Self-Study courses for an annual membership fee of $95
  • Teacher-Facilitated graduate courses for $195/credit

NJCTL is a duly authorized New Jersey Graduate School of Education seeking accreditation.


WVDE does not recognize NJCTL coursework on an NJCTL transcript for salary advancement.


To obtain credits from an institution accredited by a USED-recognized accreditor, courses can be transcribed with NJCTL’s partner, Adams State University.


* Please note that this option is not available to individuals based upon possessing a Provisional Teaching Certificate, Student Support Certificate, Administrative Certificate, or Permits of any kind.
