Master of Science in Special Education + NJ TOSD Endorsement

Teacher of Students with Disabilities icon

This 31-credit Master of Science in Special Education program is approved by the New Jersey Office of the Secretary of Higher Education (OSHE). It also meets the requirements to earn a NJ Teacher of Students with Disabilities (TOSD) endorsement. The TOSD program is approved by the NJ Department of Education and is available to NJ Teachers with any Instructional Certificate (CE, CEAS, or Standard).

Candidates can apply for and begin the ten-course program at any time; they do not need to hold a TOSD CE to begin. If needed, they can apply to the NJDOE for their TOSD CE before entering or during the program.

Candidates already holding a TOSD CE and who are enrolled in the program can get a provisional TOSD certificate from their district.

All courses are 100% online, asynchronous, and self paced. Candidates can start anytime and finish at their own pace, though provisional certificates are usually for about two years and many candidates aim to finish in that timeframe.

NJCTL does not accept transfer credits.

Individuals wishing to earn a NJ TOSD Endorsement without earning an MS Special Education degree can learn more here.
