Chemistry Teacher Add-On
Credential Program

This program is designed for California-certified science teachers to earn an additional teaching credential in chemistry by passing the CSET Exam.


While providing them everything they need to be an effective chemistry teacher, they will:

  • Understand chemistry
  • Know how to teach chemistry
  • Have the resources to teach chemistry

Flexible Options:

  • Unlimited Self-Study courses for an annual membership fee of $95
  • Teacher-Facilitated graduate courses for $225/credit

Take the full sequence of courses to learn chemistry from the ground up. Or, take just the courses you need based on the results of our free diagnostic exam.


Courses are 100% online, asynchronous, and self-paced. Start anytime and finish at your own pace.


NJCTL is a duly authorized New Jersey Graduate School of Education seeking accreditation.


To obtain credits from an institution accredited by a USED-recognized accreditor, courses can be transcribed with NJCTL’s partner, Adams State University.

Take additional chemistry courses to earn more credits, deepen your knowledge of chemistry, and/or prepare to teach AP Chemistry courses.


Most completed chemistry coursework applies towards the NJCTL Master of Science in Teaching and Learning Chemistry.

Qualify with Any Bachelor's Degree

Anyone with a bachelor's degree in any subject, with any GPA, may enroll in NJCTL courses and/or a master's degree program. No prior mathematics or science background required.

NJ-Licensed Graduate School of Education

NJCTL is an online graduate school of education duly authorized by the NJ Office of the Secretary of Higher Education with initial programmatic accreditation from the Association for Advancing Quality in Educator Preparation (AAQEP). NJDOE accepts NJCTL credits towards meeting certification requirements.


NJCTL has been recognized as a Candidate for Accreditation by WASC Senior College and University Commission (WSCUC), 1080 Marina Village Parkway, Suite 500, Alameda, CA 94501, 510.748.9001. This status is a preliminary affiliation with the Commission awarded for a maximum period of five years. Candidacy is an indication that the institution is progressing toward Accreditation. Candidacy is not Accreditation and does not ensure eventual Accreditation. Learn more.

Credit Transcription Available

There are instances when credits from an institution that has institutional accreditation are needed. For instance, some districts require them for tuition reimbursement and/or salary advancement. Some DOEs outside of NJ require those credits to meet their certification requirements. If needed, credit transcription is available. Learn more.

Tuition

NJCTL has exceptionally affordable tuition at $225 per graduate credit. There are never fees or textbook costs.
