P-3 Certification Pathways
NJCTL offers two NJDOE-approved P-3 online, asynchronous graduate programs. These programs prepare educators to create responsive, inclusive, developmentally appropriate learning environments for young children through coursework and field experiences.
Alternate Route Program (Available Now)
For Current or Prospective Teachers Who Hold a P-3 Certificate of Eligibility (CE)
- Includes DOE required 50-Hour Pre-Service course
- Begin working as a P-3 teacher upon completion of first course
- Leads to Standard certification

Initial Certificate Program (Available April)
For Prospective Teachers seeking a Traditional Teacher Preparation Program
- Prepare for the Early Childhood Praxis (5025)
- Includes Pre-Clinical Experience and Clinical Practice (Student Teaching)
- Leads to a Certificate of Eligibility w/ Advanced Standing (CEAS)
36 Graduate Credits - 11 Courses $8,100 ($6,480 for NJEA Members)*
*Prices based on current graduate tuition rate of $225 per credit ($180 for NJEA).
