At This Year’s NJEA Convention, CTL Helps Teachers Fire Up STEM Classrooms

The CTL team recently returned from an action-packed two days in Atlantic City at the New Jersey Education Association (NJEA) Convention.

CTL presented eight professional development sessions geared to helping teachers energize their STEM classrooms and boost student outcomes. The workshops covered a range of topics including how to use formative assessment to adjust instruction, powerful teaching strategies to use with K-8 math, and how to effectively engage parents in K-8 science and mathematics. Teachers also had an opportunity to learn about CTL’s Physics for All initiative.

CTL had a prominent booth on the convention floor right in the middle of Digital Boulevard. The team was inspired by great feedback from teachers who are currently using CTL classroom materials and methodologies.  Marie Papaleo, a science teacher at Cresskill Middle School expressed her enthusiasm for CTL’s teaching approach. “It follows the new standards and it makes the children think,” she explains.  “In fact, some of the lessons are difficult for them.  But it is really good.  It raises the bar.”

All in all, it was a fun and productive experience for everyone!
