PK-3 Endorsement Program Faculty Job Posting (Part-time, Adjunct)

PK-3 Endorsement Program Faculty Job Posting (Part-time, Adjunct)

NJCTL has a strong track record of creating successful NJDOE-approved educator preparation programs in science, mathematics, computer science, and special education, and will soon branch out into PK-3. Those programs are accredited by AAQEP.

About 500 teachers or prospective teachers have completed a program and about that many are currently enrolled.

NJCTL is seeking part-time faculty members to add capacity to its existing team of faculty and course developers to create high-quality PK-3 certification programs for current and prospective New Jersey teachers. The goal is to produce the many new Early Childhood Educators needed to support the rapid expansion of state-funded Pre-K programs.

This project will develop 13 courses that will comprise two programs, one for current teachers and the other for prospective teachers. Program development is expected to take about one year.

Faculty Requirements

Applicants must hold at least a master’s degree, be certified to teach elementary or PK-3, and have experience teaching in at least one grade from Pre-K through 3.

NJCTL faculty members will initially be responsible for developing and improving online course materials from the ground up. After the programs are launched, and the initial courses developed, interested faculty will also begin instructing students in those asynchronous, online courses.

Applicants will need the following skills to creating materials for an online, asynchronous format:

  • Work well with other faculty and staff to coordinate program and course development

  • Stay current on changes in the field so that they can keep their courses up-to- date with the latest developments in their discipline

  • Create educational activities that are interesting and engaging

Applicants will be expected to:

  • Collaborate with other faculty in course and program design development, evaluation and improvement

  • Participate in weekly development meetings via Zoom

  • Manage workload and meet deadlines with an eye toward a tight development schedule

Faculty will work from their homes and are not required to live in or near New Jersey. They do need to have the use of a computer or laptop, internet, and a camera and microphone to join Zoom meetings.

Faculty will be paid $45 per hour based on vouchers submitted at the end of each month, subject to the approval of the project manager. Each faculty member will be approved for a mutually agreed maximum number of hours per month in their initial contract, though these are subject to change. Payments will be made on or about the 15th of the next month.
