NJCTL’s Teaching Methods Course Can Enhance Your Skills in the Classroom

NJCTL is dedicated to helping teachers every step of the way.  Once you have downloaded our classroom teaching materials for your classes, you may want to consider enrolling in the MET6101 Teaching Methods Course.  This will provide you with a research-proven approach to effectively using our materials to improve your students’ experiences and outcomes, and enhance your overall teaching skills.

Tara Piccione, a teacher at Applied Math and Science Academy at Johnstone School (AMSA) recently shared her insights with us about her experience in taking our Teaching Methods Course:

“As facilitators of our classrooms, teachers utilize a toolbox of consistent practices that are woven together to support learning. It is not enough to be an expert in your content area. Teaching is both a science and an art, so how can we give our students the very best instruction?

In the NJCTL Methods course, I reframed my understanding of formative assessment, social constructivism, metacognition, chain-reaction tutoring, and polling to gather real time data. I built an understanding of the philosophies behind these strategies along with the concepts of working the room, modeling, and questioning. I think any teacher would benefit from the well-proven strategies detailed in the course. These strategies can build the foundation of your classroom so that it can become truly student-centered and grounded in consistency and rigor.”
