I'm confused why the answer to number #29 in the Multiple Choice problem set is (A). Thank you : )

Daniel, the key is the word "steady." That means a constant power dissipation. So any circuit with a capacitor will have a varying current as the capacitor charges up. That rules out the RC circuits. Now, Power = V^2/R. All circuits have a constant V from the battery. We need to look for the circuit with the smallest resistance to maximize power. That would be (A) because the resistors are in parallel and the equiv resistance is R/3. (B) has an equiv resistance of 3R. John
