CHEM6703:     Learning and Teaching Advanced Chemistry I

Prepare Teachers to Teach AP Chemistry Semester I

This course is for teachers to learn topics from the first half of PSI Advance Placement Chemistry and how to teach those topics to students while providing a greater depth of knowledge to support their teaching of PSI Chemistry.  Topics Include atomic structure, compounds,, stoichiometry and solutions.

 


CHEM6705:     Learning and Teaching Advanced Chemistry II
Prepare Teachers to Teach AP Chemistry Semester II


Credits: 6             

This course is for teachers to learn topics from the second half of PSI Advance Placement Chemistry and how to teach those topics to students while providing a greater depth of knowledge to support their teaching of PSI Chemistry. Topics Include kinetics, equilibrium, thermochemistry, and electrochemistry..

Prerequisite: CHEM6703


 

 
Physics


PHYS6603:     Learning and Teaching Advanced Physics I

Prepare Teachers to Teach AP Calculus 1
Credits
: 5               

This course is for teachers to learn the content of PSI Advanced Placement Physics 1 and how to teach that course to students, while  providing teachers a greater depth of understanding to support their teaching of PSI Algebra-Based Physics. Topics include vector analysis, kinematics in two dimensions, dynamics in two dimensions, Newtonian gravitation, rotational motion, conservation of energy and momentum, and waves, electric force and circuits. 

 


PHYS6605:     Learning and Teaching Advanced Physics II

Prepare Teachers to Teach AP Physics 2
Credits
: 6               

This course is for teachers to learn the content of PSI Advanced Placement Physics 2 and how to teach that course to students, while  providing teachers a greater depth of understanding to support their teaching of PSI Algebra-Based Physics Topics include two-dimensional electric force and field, electric potential and capacitors, electric current, magnetism, electromagnetic induction, electromagnetic waves, geometric optics, fluids, thermal physics, and modern physics.

PHYS6631:     Learning and Teaching Calculus-Based Physics I: Mechanics

Prepare Teachers to Teach AP Physics C: Mechanics
Credits
: 4               

In this course, teachers will learn the content of PSI Advanced Placement Physics C: Mechanics and how to teach that course to students. Topics include vectors, one & two-dimensional kinematics, dynamics, energy, momentum, rotational motion, universal gravitation and simple harmonic motion. 

Prerequisite: PHYS6603


PHYS6633:     LEARNING AND TEACHING CALCULUS-BASED PHYSICS II: ELECTRICITY & MAGNETISM
Prepare Teachers to Teach AP Physics C: Electricity and Magnetism - COMING SOON
Credits: 4               

In this course, teachers will learn the content of PSI Advanced Placement Physics C: Electricity and Magnetism and how to teach that course to students. Topics include: electric charge & field, electric potential & capacitance, current, circuits, magnetic field & forces, inductance and alternating current.
