How to Get Started

When can I start?

The next Physics Endorsement classes will begin in early July and the next Chemistry Endorsement classes will begin in January 2013.

While the summer schedule for both endorsement programs is intensive, the semesters following that are typically 2.5 hours a week, generally on Tuesdays, and about every third Saturday from 8:30-2:00pm. Date, time and location are subject to change.

How do I qualify?

You must have an existing New Jersey teaching certification. In addition, in order to continue beyond the first courses, you must be employed by a school district, since the PSI Endorsement program requires you teach a minimum of one PSI Physics or PSI Chemistry class (according to your endorsement area) while taking the advanced level coursework.

What will the program cost?

The Kean-CTL the cost per credit is in accordance with Kean’s graduate tuition at the time of registration. As of the Fall 2011, the cost is $695/credit (an estimated $20,850 for physics, and $25,020 for chemistry).  The CTL pathway to endorsement costs under $250/credit ($7,800 for physics and $8,800 for chemistry).

How do I apply?

The process for application is as follows:

1. Additionally, teachers must submit an official, sealed copy of all university transcripts, and a photocopy of their NJ teaching certificate.

If you are applying to for a graduate credit endorsement program, send these documents, along with a completed Kean University Registration Eligibility Form (download the form) to:
